Personal Financial Mangement Class
As part of the changes made to the Bankruptcy Code in 2005, every individual who files a Chapter 13 bankruptcy case must attend a Personal Financial Management Class before making the final payment under his or her Chapter 13 plan. Once the class is completed the individual will be issued a certifiacte of attendance which must be filed with the bankruptcy court.
In our district (Northern District of Texas, Dallas & Fort Worth Divisions), the Chapter 13 Trustees on the same day as the Meeting of Creditors provide a free Personal Financial Management Class.
On our web site we have provided links for those entities, other than the Chapter 13 TRustees, that are approved for providing such a class. The Texas A&M University System, provides free of charge to all individuals, a Personal Financial Management Class.
